Female dress is not responsible for harassment

Female dress is not responsible for harassment

This video is specifically for those who claim that a girl is safe as long as she is dressed modestly and observes purdah/pardah (veiling). To support this view, such people often share comparisons—like an unwrapped versus a wrapped lollipop, or a peeled versus an unpeeled banana.

Observing purdah/pardah is essential and should certainly be practiced. However, our female children, young women, and adult women are not safe—even when fully covered and observing purdah/pardah. Just look at this video. It is not a compilation of incidents spanning many years; rather, it is composed of images from reported incidents (captured on video) that occurred within just the last year or so. In reality, the number of such incidents in Pakistan over this period likely far exceeds what is shown here. In these specific cases, the girls were either wearing an abaya, burqa, or chadar, or were under the age of ten.

The point is that our female children, young women, and adult women will not be safe until our male children, young men, and adult men are reformed.

Harassment has nothing to do with a girl's clothing; it stems entirely from the male mindset.

Along with teaching our girls about purdah/pardah, we must also teach our boys about modesty and decency; otherwise, this cycle will continue.
